The Quarter Inch Bells

The Quarter-Inch Bells is an instrument currently in development. A pair of reel-to-reel tape recorders are linked, recording and playing back at different speeds, to modulate and transform the sound of “toy” instruments and household items, toy piano in particular. Through this process, these instruments defy expectations. Usually tinny, plastic, even harsh sounding, they evolve into something far deeper, richer; something with a spiritual, almost ceremonial quality.
